Middle School

Student Support:

During these middle school years, it is essential that students learn to take ownership of their academics. In classes, they learn the importance of time management, being organized, and creating a home environment that is conducive to studying. Teachers create accountability among students by utilizing agendas/planners in class, encouraging students to ask questions, and helping them to develop the social skills necessary to work collaboratively with peers. Mentor Teachers help support the social and academic progress of every student.

Technology is embedded into core courses, and, in science, each student is assigned a Chromebook for the use of our newly adopted Discovery Techbooks©. This digital textbook provides STEM project starters, interactive tools, and hand-on labs that inspires students to learn beyond their own expectations.

Test Preparation:

In order to help prepare students for college entry examinations, all 8 th grade students participate in the PSAT 8/9 annually. This gives each student information on individual strengths and weaknesses in order to better focus preparation time. Students who have matriculated into high school often see vast improvements on the PSAT by 10th grade.
